How To Create Consistent Characters in Midjourney

In this follow up to my previous tutorial I'll expand on how to create consistent characters in Midjourney V5.1 and V5.2, which produce much greater similarity than its predecessor V5.

First, I just want to say, because Midjourney 5.2 makes it so much easier to create consistent characters than previous versions, don't forget to actually work hard on other elements of your illustration book. Don't rely on Midjourney alone to do everything.

Midjourney is already doing a great job, so now you do your part, by spending more time on defining the character's traits, and making your storyline more thoughtout. These little adjustments will contribute to a great degree to the quality of the whole.

(Or we'll end up in a world of generic illustration books, content-wise.)

How To Make Consistent Characters In Midjourney?

Midjourney generates random images by default. With so much room for variation, learning how to control detail becomes important, especially if you're making an illustrated art book.

First check out my other Character Consistency In Midjourney tutorial to get started.

To use the same character in all of your future generated images, follow these steps, which will also increase chances of generating consistent characters in your Midjourney prompts:

    • Create a text prompt that describes your character in great detail.
    • Generate your first image and find seed number of generated image.
    • Start your prompt with an image URL of generated image, or another image.
    • After URL, paste same text prompt from first step.
    • Submit your prompt.
